News - California AG Jerry Brown Asks Supreme Court To Rule On Prop 8

California Attorney General Jerry Brown has asked the state Supreme Court to rule on the constitutionality of Proposition 8.
“There is significant public interest in prompt resolution of the legality of Proposition 8,” Mr. Brown wrote. “This court can provide certainty and finality in this matter.”
In court, Mr. Brown will defend the measure; however, proponents of Prop 8 have asked for permission to participate in the defense because they do not believe the Attorney General will be sufficiently vigorous in its defense.
